AA-Mosaic Portfolio
Without going into great detail why these equities were selected, let me explain what ETFs and stock were used to launch this portfolio. Here are the investments used thus far. They include: EFA, IJJ, DJP, VBR, VTV, VUG, VBK, VOT, VEU, VNQ, VWO, and FAST. All are ETFs with exception of FAST, a stock, and DJP, a ETN which is an exchange traded note. DJP is the commodity investment.
I will continue to explain more about asset allocation and the multiple-factor-model used to construct this portfolio. At some point I will also include a very simple portfolio, a portfolio one might title, “Portfolio for Dummies” or “Portfolio for Beginners.” It is really a portfolio for thoughtful investors.

Lowell,
Congrat on your new blog!
Everything looks terrific … Just wanted to see if the reply function worked. The colors all
look great, the size is great, everything seems super readable and inviting.
I have to say, after I created a $10,000 portfolio of diversified ETFs over at zecco.com in early January, that I LOOK AT and Worry About it MUCH less, then I look at my stock portfolio. That has to be a good thing.
I bought 50% U.S. and 50% international:
10% VBR Vanguard Small-Cap Value
10% VTV Vanguard Large-Cap Value
10% VV Vanguard Large-Cap Blend
10% VB Vanguard Small-Cap Blend
10% VNQ Vanguard REIT ETF
15% VWO Vanguard Emerging Markets
15% VGK Vanguard European Vipers
15% VEU Vanguard All-World Excluding-US
05% BKF Vanguard BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, China)
Looking forward to seeing your Wealth Mangagement blog (and our wealth) grow!

Etana,
This looks like a portfolio constructed for the long-haul as it is skewed toward the value side. That is generally how I do it, although I just increase the percentage in value and then balance it with growth rather than going the blend route. I know Ty Hughes prefers the above based on his research.
What software are you using to track the performance?
Lowell
PS Thank you for the kind comments.

Sue,
I am pleased you found this site through a Google search. Over the next few weeks I will be walking investors through the construction of a portfolio built around the concepts of the research I write about. Please write your questions in the comment section.

As an investor, do you have an asset allocation play for your portfolio? If not, why not?
