Bailing Out The U.S. Economy
The Saturday Oregonian carried an editorial titled, “Wall Street’s great deflation.” The article opens with a reference to Phil Graham calling the American people a bunch of whiners, when in fact the actual whiners are the financial titans, the big-money bankers, the most important investors, and the worldwide creditors.
As I read William Grieder’s Oregonian article, I thought to myself, this sure sounds like the same fellow I heard on Bill Moyer’s last evening. Sure enough, it is the same economics writer and here is the Bill Moyer’s Journal link.
Greider ends his editorial with this paragraph. “Americans should forget about whining; it’s too late for that. People need to get angry–really, really angry–and take it out on both parties. What the country needs right now is a few more politicians in Washington with the guts to stand up and tell us the hard truth about our situation. It will be painful to hear. They will be denounced as “whiners.” But truth might be our only way out.”
