Music Recommendations for 9/7
This morning I have two recommendations for readers. The first one is Mendelssohn’s Elijah featuring the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra & Chorus directed by Robert Shaw. Telarc’s recording is outstanding, as one might expect since Shaw is conducting the chorus. The oratorio is sung in English.
The second recommendation is also vocal, but much lighter. Songs of the Sea and Songs of the South by The Norman Luboff Choir is a combination of two LPS on one CD. The Luboff Choir also had an LP titled, Songs of the West, but I have never been able to locate it on CD. What a shame as it was a special LP recording.
If you enjoy vocal music, I think you will enjoy both of these recordings.
