Grand Canyon Suite
The Grand Canyon Suite by Ferde Grofe is my CD recommendation for the week. In addition, to Grofe’s composition, you will receive Billy The Kid and Rodeo Suites by Aaron Copland, perhaps the greatest American composer. This “three for one” CD is an RCA Victor Living Stereo recording featuring Morton Gould and his orchestra.
If you have ever visited the Grand Canyon, you know this music fits nearly every weather condition one might experience. Listen to a few samples and see if you don’t agree. Unfortunately, I do not have any photographs of the great canyon as it has been over thirty years since I visited that area of the U.S. The closest I can come is an image of the Waimea Canyon in Hawaii, captured shortly after 9/11.
